On December 16, Hyundai E&C was named the top company in the Construction and Engineering sector of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World, an honor bestowed on only four builders worldwide in the 2024 DJSI evaluation conducted by the world-renowned S&P Global.

The DJSI World is a prestigious index that selects only the top 10% of the world’s 2,500 largest companies by market capitalization for sustainability evaluation, highlighting companies’ ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) management performance. Hyundai E&C is the only Korean builder to be listed for 15 consecutive years.

Hyundai E&C improved its score compared to the previous year through initiatives such as △analyzing the financial impact of material sustainability-related issues △enhancing the evaluation of biodiversity risks, including natural capital △establishing safety and health policies △and disclosing ESG data from subsidiaries.

Hyundai E&C's ESG management performance has been recognized by various rating agencies. This year, it was selected for the Platinum Club in the “Climate Change Response” category by the CDP Korea Committee for the third year in a row, and it has maintained an A grade in the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and. Sustainability (KCGS) ESG Rating for seven consecutive years.

Since 2020, Hyundai E&C has operated a Sustainability Management Council under the Transparent Management Committee to institutionalize sustainability management throughout the company. In the first quarter of each year, the company identifies “company-wide ESG improvement tasks” through internal discussions based on sustainability management issues and actively implements initiatives to promote sustainability management.
