Q1. Please tell us about your job
I am in charge of project execution (architecture) on site. Project delivery, or site construction management, is simply about translating 2D drawings into 3D results. It is a process that creates a safe environment for workers on site and manages the process so that the building can be handed over to the client on time. In addition, it is the role of managing quality standards for each subcontractor based on manuals accumulated over decades to ensure that high-quality construction is carried out.

Q2. What competencies do you need most in your job? 
Above all, I think “communication skills” are the most important. When you are in charge of construction management, you have to communicate with about 20 to 30 subcontractors and lead the site. The more the construction team continuously provides quality standards, coordinates with each contractor, and pays attention to the overall work, the better the quality, process, and safety are managed, and the easier the construction process is. I think having good communication skills helps a lot in managing a construction project because it helps you coordinate multiple stakeholders and lead the site seamlessly.

Q3. How did you prepare for joining the company? 
In college, I gained leadership skills and qualities by heading various groups such as swimming club and serving as a ROTC cadet. I also actively organized group studies related to job search. By regularly meeting and studying together under the framework of industry trends, discussions on current issues, major questions, and presentations, I was able to improve my understanding of the construction sector and embrace other people's perspectives.
On-site project delivery is also a task of managing subcontractors and achieving results. The leadership experience I gained while in school has been very helpful to me in my work, both during and after joining the company.

Q4. Is there a corporate culture or system at HDEC that you would like to share? 
I'd like to highlight the “Family Day” program, which allows employees to leave work earlier than usual on a company-designated day. I'm newly married, and Family Day allows me to go on weekday dates with my wife, refresh my body and mind, and focus more on my work. This scheme enables work-life balance, ensuring that employees get enough time to spend with their families. I think it also helps to make employees happier and the company more productive.

Q5. Do you have any advice for juniors who want to work at HDEC?
My motto in life is “Do it now, regret it later”. Before joining the company, I didn't want to rush into a career, so I took on various challenges, including traveling around the world, going on a working holiday, running a meal kit business, and competing in triathlons. Through these experiences, I established my own set of values and developed a clear dream of working in the construction sector. 
In fact, I was worried that the company would look at my time away from my career (resulting from my adventurous days) in a negative light. But, during the interview, I was told encouraging words from the interviewer who said, "You must have confidence in yourself to be able to take on such a challenge". I hope that juniors wanting to join the company will find what they really want to do and prepare well for the future.
