Hyundai E&C will establish a global network to participate in the reconstruction project in Ukraine and explore specific cooperation measures.

On July 14 (local time), at the Intercontinental Hotel in Warsaw, Poland, Hyundai E&C signed an agreement with the Boryspil International Airport Corporation of Kyiv, Ukraine, for the airport expansion project.

Hosted by the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport, the MOU signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Won Hee-ryong, Chairman of the Overseas Construction Association Park Sun-ho, President/CEO of Hyundai E&C Yoon Young-joon, and Director-General of Boryspil International Airport Corporation Oleksii Dubrevskyi.

Ukraine's Boryspil International Airport is located approximately 29 kilometers southeast of the capital city of Kyiv and is the largest airport in Ukraine, handling 62% of the country's passenger traffic and 85% of its cargo traffic. The Boryspil International Airport Corporation is currently conducting a feasibility study to modernize its post-war runways and build a new cargo terminal.

Hyundai E&C will support the airport expansion project based on its technical expertise accumulated through a number of domestic and international airport construction projects, including Incheon International Airport, Singapore’s Changi Airport, and Peru's Chinchero Airport, as well as its track record of leading post-war national reconstruction projects.

With this agreement, Hyundai E&C will actively support the rapid normalization of Kyiv Boryspil International Airport, a key transportation hub in Ukraine, to lay the foundation for the acceleration of Ukraine's reconstruction project, while expanding the scope of cooperation to high-speed rail and national infrastructure in the future, as well as broadening the ground for promoting energy infrastructure projects.

Hyundai E&C has signed a Korea-U.S. Energy Partnership with U.S. nuclear power company Holtec International to jointly enter the SMR construction business to rebuild Ukraine's energy infrastructure. The deployment of SMRs is expected to boost K-construction's role in restoring Ukraine's power system and developing a carbon-neutral energy sector.

Meanwhile, at a business roundtable held in conjunction with the signing ceremony, leading companies and organizations involved in Ukraine's reconstruction, including the Overseas Construction Association, Hyundai E&C, Samsung C&T, Hyundai Rotem, Korea Export-Import Bank, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, K-Water, and Naver, attended to discuss future policy support and cooperation plans.

With the establishment of the Deputy Ministerial Consultative Group at the Korea-Poland Summit, a cooperation channel for jointly identifying and promoting reconstruction projects in Ukraine was opened, and the public-private partnership mechanism between Korea, Poland, and Ukraine has been completed, laying the foundation for all-round support for private-led reconstruction projects.

Based on the network centered on the Korea-Poland-Ukraine Construction Association, Hyundai E&C will strengthen its preparedness for post-war projects by establishing a forum for diverse and rapid information sharing and strengthening the foundation for practical cooperation.
