Hyundai E&C has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with AusNet, Victoria’s largest diversified energy network business, marking its full-scale entry into the Australian energy market. The two companies signed a MOU on September 1 this year at Hyundai E&C’s head office in Seoul, committing to explore opportunities for future collaboration with respect to renewable energy zone and transmission projects in Australia.

Last year, Hyundai E&C established a branch office in Sydney and signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the South Australian government covering renewable energy, infrastructure, and housing sectors. This move laid the foundation for stronger local communication and market expansion into Australia and the surrounding Oceania region.

The Australian government’s “Rewiring the Nation” initiative involves large-scale infrastructure investments aimed at enhancing the safety and security of the national power grid, alongside expanding renewable energy construction projects under the Net Zero 2050 policy. Hyundai E&C, with its expertise in EPC for transmission and substation infrastructure, strong financial position, and solid local network, is expected to broaden cooperation across infrastructure and future energy sectors such as solar, offshore wind, and hydrogen.

A Hyundai E&C official said, “With global energy transition projects expanding, the synergy between AusNet’s experience in Australia’s transmission infrastructure and Hyundai E&C’s global expertise and technology is expected to yield tangible business results in the future. We look forward to strong synergy and mutual growth through this long-term partnership.”

Since its first transmission line project in Saudi Arabia in 1976, Hyundai E&C has accumulated extensive experience with over 180 transmission and substation projects worldwide. The company recently ranked 10th globally in the transmission and substation sector in the U.S. ENR 2025 rankings and continues to expand its global footprint. Leveraging this strength, Hyundai E&C plans to focus on business expansion in new markets such as Australia alongside the Middle East.
